Over the next four years, Wirral will be looking to introduce 20mph speed limits in 54 zones of residential roads across the borough. Introducing a 20mph speed limit reduces the chances of a collision as well as the severity of any injuries from any collision that might still occur.
The speed limits are part of Wirral’s contribution to the Liverpool City Region Road Safety strategy, which has a vision to reach zero road traffic collisions by 2040. The scheme is funded through the Liverpool City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement Combined Authority Transport Plan to improve air quality and reduce traffic speeds so that people can feel safer on the roads.
