This year, 26 Cheshire West and Chester Council employees under the age of 25, have attended a Young Driver theory and on-road practical session.

It is compulsory for all young drivers working for CWAC Council to complete this training, if they drive as part of their role.

Road Skills Experience (RSE) aims to:

  • Extend driving knowledge, skills & confidence.
  • Develop tolerance and consideration of other road users.
  • Reduce driver stress.
  • Develop a raised awareness of risk management, acknowledging the need for shared responsibility in crash avoid.
  • Identify and discuss strategies for dealing with hazards.
  • Positive attitudes and behaviour for driving to reduce fuel usage and carbon emissions.

Young drivers attend a theory session, then take a practical assessment with an Engage Approved Driving Instructor, to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to drive safely in their role.
