Driving under the influence of alcohol, or with more than the specified level of 17 legal and illegal drugs is against the law. But drivers – including learner drivers – may still be unfit even when below the legal drink/drug limit.

Almost everyone uses drugs at some time, from over the counter medicines or prescription drugs to illegal substances.
It can be difficult to spot the signs and symptoms of drugs, so how do you know if someone is fit to drive?

‘Fit to Drive’ is a helpful guide, produced in conjunction with Merseyside Road Safety Partnership.

It provides facts and information on the effects of drugs and some of the common signs that may indicate drugs have been taken.
